Maximizing the Impact of Technical Education: Some Observations on Content and Methods 931394
Technical Education has a key role to play in shaping and molding the future of the aerospace industry, as continuous learning is needed to keep pace with the changes.
Opportunities exist to maximize the impact of technical education by:
Improving the education process, through instructor development training,
Identifying critical content, and integrating/reinforcing key concepts throughout the curriculum,
Complementing university courses with industry education programs tailored to meet specific needs.
These strategies are being used to improve the effectiveness of a three year business-specific education program, the GE Advanced Courses in Engineering and Manufacturing (ACE/M). Many of these challenges apply equally to university courses and curricula, and similar efforts are underway at the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering.
