Control Strategy for a Multi-Roll Chassis Dynamometer in Road Load Simulation 950514
An electric chassis dynamometer or ‘rolling road’ used in the development of new motor vehicles is required to simulate the effect of motoring on a road during the road load simulation (RLS) mode of operation. The type of rolling road considered in this paper contains an individually controlled machine and roll for each wheel of the vehicle. A strategy for the control of a multi-roll chassis dynamometer in RLS mode is presented which uses tractive force ‘observations’ of each of the vehicle wheels to provide the correct vehicle loading.
