The Use of Woven Fiber Optics in Automotive Interior Lighting 950912

A manufacturing technique now being used in the automotive industry enables plastic optical fibers to be woven into light-emiting panels. When used in automotive interior applications, they reduce heat load, eliminate many electrical connections, and cut the space required for traditional lighting assemblies in courtesy lighting applications. When used with central light-distribution systems, power and lamp replacement costs are also greatly reduced.
