Creating an Automotive Industry Benchmark Suite for Assessing the Effectiveness of High-Performance Computers 951125
There are many significant impediments to effectively evaluating high-performance computing (HPC) machines with respect to automotive industry applications. The proposed approach is to create a long-term solution via the establishment of a comprehensive automotive industry benchmark suite. This would provide a well-defined target for computer vendors interested in providing appropriate hardware and software for the automotive industry. Updated performance results available electronically over the Internet and with a forum for discussion would improve communications about HPC issues in the worldwide automotive community. Such a suite would selectively leverage off of relevant tests of existing benchmark groups, only offering additions directly related to largescale automotive applications.
