Effect of Aerospike on Heat Transfer to Hemisphere Forebody at Hypersonic Conditions 951443
Heat transfer on hemisphere forebody domes at hypersonic velocities can be reduced and/or diffused at selected conditions with an upstream flow separation aerospike. Examination of past literature yields empirical data which can be compared. The data reported herein include relative heat transfer measurements for several relative separation distances, and over a range of Reynolds and Mach numbers. Extrapolations from these data can provide useful information for future missile designs.
