Control of Automotive Dynamometer Emissions with Catalytic Oxidizers 960411

Dynamometer operations in Michigan represent the potential for a significant yet heretofore exempt, source for product of combustion emissions. Recent changes in the Michigan rules preclude further exemptions for new installations when regulatory thresholds are exceeded. This paper recounts, through the planning of a new dynamometer installation, the process of developing a successful compliance strategy. Key topics in the synthesis of the strategy include determination of expected emissions, permit development, selection of equipment, implementation/operation of equipment, and evaluation of equipment performance.
