Abstract:
OSHA and EPA regulations demand a closer look at aircraft paint removal processes within the Department of Defense and commercial activities. The Naval Air Systems Team has been vigorously pursuing the elimination of methylene chloride based paint removal technology for several years. Earlier this year NAVAIR representatives developed a cohesive strategy to address both short term (Oct 1998) and long term (Year 2000 and beyond) paint removal practices within its depots. The plan accommodates environmental issues, current and developing technologies, and facilities requirements.
