A Satellite Bus Power System 2000-01-3639

A regulated bus power system is being developed for communication and broadcast satellites with power requirements of 5 to 15 kilowatts,. The design configuration includes battery voltage of 65 to 95, with a 100 volt regulated main bus, thus avoiding limitations of the traditional 28V power system, where the required large currents increase cost and weight. This paper describes the modular system including battery discharge regulators, each capable of 3 kilowatt output. An interconnected regulating system providing N+1 redundancy and forced load sharing is integral to the design.
