The Three-dimensional Pulsation Flow Simulation and Its Application for Engine Intake and Exhaust Systems 2000-05-0095

In recent intake system development, high-performance is required for output and for intake noise and due to restrictions on the engine compartment space determined by the car body design, engine intake systems in recent years have taken on more complex shapes. With the continuing improvement in CPU performance and the fall in the price of memory, hard disks, and other memory media, high-performance computers have become more accessible. Taking these circumstances into account, the authors decided to expand the wave action calculation for the intake system from one dimension to multiple dimensions. This paper describes the construction of such simulations and gives examples of actual application.
