Engine Roughness: Analysis and Reduction Considering Air- and Structural Borne Noise Paths, Interfaces and Innovative NVH-Parts 2001-01-1575

Roughness applied to automotive acoustic also in respect with diesel and gasoline engines is defined.
Measurement and evaluation technologies and methods in respect of single and multiple sources are discussed and described with applications in a test-vehicle.
Typical airborne and structural borne noise paths and interfaces beginning at the engine and transmitted to the interior will be further described and evaluated.
The adaptation and improvement of interface parts prior identified as a relevant path is discussed and the optimization steps presented in terms of noise-level reduction and/or subjective noise behavior.
