Understanding Psychoacoustic Parameters 2001-01-3943

This work explains the quantification of mechanisms and effects related to the sensations caused by sound pressures on our hearing system. Some already classic parameters like loudness, specific loudness, sharpness, specific sharpness, fluctuation strength and roughness are discussed in terms of their calculation and characteristics. Data acquisition hardware and software for the investigation of this kind of phenomena is overviewed. Practical cases are shown and discussed.
