An Experimental Investigation into the Dynamic Behavior of a Variable Displacement Compressor 2002-01-0228

Automotive air conditioning systems with variable displacement compressors and thermal expansion valves tend to experience hunting problems. The purpose of this paper is to find out the dynamic characteristics of the variable displacement compressor, which can be the base for resolving the instability problem of the automotive air conditioning systems. The influence of the compressor rotary speed, the compressor discharge pressure, and the cooling load on the piston stroke length and the refrigerant mass flow rate has been investigated experimentally, and the experimental results have been discussed in this paper.
