Adapting Vehicles for the Disabled Driver 2002-01-2082
The paper reviews the current technologies employed to assist a person with a disability to drive a car and meet the legislative requirements to be able to do so. The paper examines how these assistive technologies are used in three specific areas:
Access systems
Primary controls
Secondary controls
The paper also reviews safety implications involved with adaptations and also where there may be conflicts between systems fitted as standard to the car and the adaptations.
