The Development of an Electrical Wire Chafing Protective Technology for Aircraft 2002-01-3236
The technical objective of this project is:
To develop, for existing aircraft, an electrical wire chafing protective technology, which (1) is capable of protecting existing electrical wiring, (2) has a “self-announcing” feature, and (3) gives advance notice of electrical wire insulation damage well before the bare electrical conductor is exposed.
We have focused our efforts on a retrofittable, self-announcing, electrical wire chafing protection sheath or covering, which satisfies the above objectives, and which is described in this paper.
