Numerical Simulation of a Truck Underhood Flow 2002-01-3453

The proposed paper aims to present the numerical simulation via CFD of the underhood flow for a given DaimlerChrysler truck. The main practical application of this investigation is to evaluate the air flow assessment in the underhood compartment. All the relevant aspects of the flow have been taken into account and fully 3D incompressible viscous flow simulations with turbulence modeling for steady state condition has been performed.
As regards truck operation conditions, two major situations have been considered: firstly, one simulation with the truck at a standstill condition. Secondly, the movement of the truck is considered for a condition of maximum torque.
