Do We Really Need a Spec on Tire Static Balance? 2003-01-0151

This paper considers the effect of static tire balance on dynamic tire balance. Monte-Carlo simulation is used to show that the tolerance on static balance can be relaxed without much effect on dynamic balance. This reduces the total (static and dynamic balances combined) tire rejection rate by as much as 25%, which can result in considerable cost savings. All data in this paper have been transformed for confidentiality.
