Gas Assist Injection Molding Using Thermosetting Materials 2003-01-1131

Gas assist injection molding (GAIM) is a plastics processing innovation used to enhance cycle times, material usage and part quality. For over a decade, thermoplastic materials have been the only polymers available when considering gas assist. By employing specialized processing alternatives, bulk molding compound, a polyester based thermoset, can also benefit from gas assist. The inherent properties associated with fiber reinforced thermosetting composites can now be specified with the enhancements derived from gas assist injection molding.
