Rationalization of the Drain interval of Diesel Rail Car Engine Oils 2003-01-1961

To find the optimum drain interval of commercially available high performance engine oils of suitable grades for diesel powered rail cars, the durability of the engine oils in field tests and the conditions inside the engines after field tests have been investigated. From the series of field test results, a possibility for controlling the drain interval of engine oils based on the traveled distance was suggested and the suitable drain interval of those oils was determined as 45,000km in terms of the distance traveled.
