Component Tolerances Impact on Critical Clearances for Ford Fiesta Supercharger Exhaust Assembly 2003-01-3545
This study aims to check whether critical clearances for Ford Fiesta Supercharger exhaust assembly can be met or not. Its potential negative impacts range from unaesthetic misalignment to irritant rattles. To evaluate the exhaust system adequateness, we focus on component tolerances propagation. The method applied herein, as a first outlook, relies on gaps from resonator and silencer to surrounding heat shields using a suitable statistical approach (normal distribution), which is compared with a worst-case one.
A future step could be to examine the sensitivities to decide how to control the component tolerances to meet design specifications and manufacturing costs.
