Application of Oil Dynamics Simulation to Motorcycle Oilpans 2005-32-0011

An oilpan that supplies engine oil has to maintain oil level low (low oil level decreases rotation drag in crankshaft) and has to prevent rapid oil flow during acceleration, deceleration and cornering motorcycle. In this paper, the applicability of oil dynamics simulation was shown using three different oilpan shapes with complex geometries to study differences in the baffle plates in the oilpans. The effect of certain baffle plates in the oilpans had on oil flow is discussed based on the simulations as a sample case, and their application to a Kawasaki high-performance motorcycle using the effect is briefly reported.
