Simulation of Hydrocarbon Emissions from an SI Engine 2006-01-1196

In this work, the mechanism of hydrocarbons emanating from the ring crevices and lubricating oil film and the subsequent behavior and distribution of released hydrocarbons in the cylinder over one engine cycle have been investigated.
A model for the prediction of unburned HC quantities compressed in ring crevices and absorbed by oil film has been performed by a multi-dimensional model. The model has been coupled to an external zero dimensional sub-model.
