Research on Self-adaptive 4WD System 2007-01-3753

Depending on good stability and pass ability on adverse road conditions, 4WD system is being attached importance by vehicle industry gradually. Traditionally, 4WD is mechanical or viscous type, but its performance is difficult to adapt to dynamic changes of inconstant road surface. This paper researched on self-adaptive 4WD system which is based on electronic differential of motor type: It can distribute driving torque dynamically among the driving wheels according to the vehicle driving state and road conditions, and utilize road adhesion capability to the maximum limit, improve vehicle stability and passthrough performance and reduce adverse effects on fuel economy. The research showed that 4WD system with motor-based electronic differential can be self-adaptive to vehicle driving state and road conditions and achieve best driving layout.
