Finite Element Analysis of Glass Fibre Reinforced-Fibre Metal Laminate Composite with Different Stacking Arrangements 2020-28-0382

FMLs (fibre metal laminates) are a kind of hybrid composite material consisting of composite material layers alternating to metal sheets (Aluminium) with high structural characteristics. The aim of the present work is to investigate the bending behavior of Glass fibre Reinforced (GLARE) - Fibre Metal Laminate (FML) under the various stacking arrangement using finite element (FE) analysis. In this view, the FE model of GLARE-FML is developed in ANSYS®15.0 software using shell181 element. Initially, the developed FE model is validated with laminated composite materials and results are shown good agreement with literature results. Then, the present FE model is used to analysis the central deflection, maximum normal stress along x & y direction and shear stress for different stacking arrangement (GLARE type 1 to 6) under uniformly distributed load.
