The Sky is the Limit for Two-Cycle Engines 620396

The design and evolution of a unique 125-hp, 145-lb, turbocharged, two-cycle, gasoline engine, developed speccifically for powering high altitude target aircraft, is described. The salient design features of this powerplant are described, and the requirements and experiences which dictated them are explained. The author concludes that, because of their relative simplicity and low overall cost, engines of this type are preferable to turbines and rockets for many drone aircraft applications.
