Safety Brake Systems for Commercial Vehicles 640076

The current demand for greater safety in braking and deceleration has brought about the use of split-systems in commercial and passenger car brakes. Diagrams illustrating the operation of master and slave power brake units, and a discussion of their operation are presented in this paper.
Through use of antilock devices, retarders, and rear axle mechanical brakes for emergency application, a steady improvement in safety of operation of tomorrow’s vehicles will be achieved.
