Application of High Temperature Materials for Integrally Cast Turbine Components 650706

This paper covers the present capability of the investment casting process in production of integrally cast turbine wheels and nozzles for high temperature gas turbine applications.
Available high temperature materials are discussed and metallurgical considerations of typical castings are noted.
The requirements for, and potential benefits of, diffusion costings are listed.
Mechanical design considerations for making maximum use of available materials are covered, as well as tentative proposals for producing air-cooled integral components.
