A Critical Review of Physical Test Methods for Gasket Materials 680615

A considerable number of test methods exist for the determination of the physical properties of nonmetallic gasket materials. Some are used primarily as quality controls while others also serve to describe specific functional properties.
The relationships of various test procedures to the characteristics of these materials differ considerably in their degree of applicability.
Current development work on new test methods is directed principally toward increased emphasis on functional properties. The goal is to provide more reliable means for selecting and qualifying gasket materials.
