Recent Developments in Automotive Plastic Components 700677

Within the past 20 years, the use of plastic components has increased enormously. This paper will outline only a few of the recently developed plastic components, and will illustrate some of the many advances that have been made in using these materials in automotive applications
The use of plastics has progressed so rapidly from the 1950's-1970's, that the automobile industry is now using approximately 100 lb of plastic per car, as compared to 10 lb per car in the 1950's.
Automobile manufacturers are cognizant of the increased emphasis of plastics in safety related components, and the advances in technology of plastics and other related materials has contributed to this expanding growth.
