Driver-Vehicle Performance In Closed Loop Tests 750964

Closed-loop maneuvers were performed by a cross-section of typical drivers in four representative automobiles. The tests included both preplanned control tasks and “spontaneous” reactions to sudden obstacles or visual instructions. On the average, the drivers did not achieve the open-loop limit performance of the cars. Directional response parameters were the more significant indicators of differences in performance between vehicles.
