Predicting Tire Noise and Performance Interactions 762032

A computer program has been developed which predicts tire performance characteristics related to tread design. Handcut tires were tested with specific combinations of cross slot angle, percent void, and number of cross slots. Mathematical equations generated from the test results are used to show that some performance sacrifices may be required to achieve tire noise reductions.
