The User’s Approach to Fuel Economy Through Utility Fleet Vehicle and Equipment Specifications 800130

A survey taken of utility fleets throughout the United States and Canada indicates that most are taking action to reduce fuel consumption through specification and operational activities. One fleet’s experience and results with mid-range diesels is given, showing substantial benefits over gasoline engines, especially in power take-off operation. Additional fuel reductions are possible by specifying smaller automobiles and smaller engines with manual transmissions in vans and pickups.
