Mechanical Properties of Compacted Graphite Cast Iron 810209

Data from mechanical property evaluations of compacted graphite iron are summarized and reviewed. A significant amount of information is presented regarding the influence of structure, composition, and processing variables on compacted graphite iron tensile properties, while compression, shear, fatigue, and impact data is limited. Little testing has been conducted to establish bending and elevated temperature properties, and further research will be necessary to insure the acceptability of compacted graphite iron for specific applications.
