Front and Rear Suspension of the New Mercedes Model W201 831045

For the new Mercedes W201 entirely new front and rear suspensions had to be developed, because this small and light weight car was to achieve the same standard of ride and handling qualities, compared with bigger and heavier cars.
The paper explains the design of the new suspension systems. One main point is to report on the means, how to control the rear wheel motions by particular elastokinematic characteristics.
