A Driver Environment Design Parameter Study 840865

A series of “MVMA Two-Dimensional Crash Victim Simulation” program runs were performed to predict the effect of vehicle design parameters on dummy injury measurements for a specific barrier crash pulse. Parameters investigated included steering column stroking distance, steering column stroking force level, instrument panel stiffness and relative distances between the driver, windshield, and instrument panel. A description of the computer model and its limitations is presented with a brief analysis of the results.
