The Prevention of Bead Dislodgement of Tires and the Importance of Limited Run Flat Capability on Safety 856038

Modern car tires of tubeless design rarely blow out. Should a sharp steering maneuver be executed on a deflated tire, the tire beads could dislodge, giving rise to blowout like conditions. Pirelli and Goodyear have developed a new hump design which significantly increases the level of bead retention. During the bead dislodgement maneuver, the road applies its force to only a small section of tire corresponding to the footprint area.
