Technique for Loudspeaker Motor Structure and Voice Coil Evaluation 860003

Automotive loudspeaker performance specifications have undergone dramatic changes in the past five years. Loudspeakers are being specified with higher sound pressure level, extended frequency response and less total harmonic distortion. While meeting these more demanding performance specifications they must be shallower, lighter in weight and, if possible, less costly.
To meet these criteria a better method was needed to evaluate smaller, lighter magnetic motor assemblies and their coupling to the loudspeaker voice coil. The method presented allows for a quick and inexpensive evaluation of prototype components.
