Crash Phase Accident Reconstruction 860209

Two algorithms, CRASH and IMPAC, used to calculate crash delta-V and impact velocity are compared. Each is observed to have common features but important differences. Error sources from restitution and intervehicle friction are discussed. Comparisons of accuracy in reconstructing delta-V are discussed but found inadequate for objective comparison.
