The intent of this paper is to provide an overview on the design of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). Included in this brief technical discussion are the basic design attributes and the functions which encompass vehicle performance. In addition, a brief discussion on several design alternatives is offered, including a) mechanical suspension, b) steering dampers, c) axle extenders, d) fork extenders, and e) mechanical differential.
