Integrated Vehicle Systems Diagnostics - Powertrain and Chassis 861029

This paper addresses the evolution of on-board diagnostics as applied to vehicles with significant electrical/electronic base content. A number of in-production diagnostic systems and their operating modes are presented which use the integrated system configuration of the electronics to significantly enhance the vehicle testability. Also discussed are diagnostic developments, the complementary support of on-board capability and off-board systems, and the evolution in human factors at the user interface.
