Analysis of Sulky Dynamics: Implications in Harness Racing 861385

An analysis of the dynamics of a harness race sulky is presented. The objective is to determine the design parameters which will have the greatest effect upon forces transmitted between the horse and the sulky. It is found that long sulky frames diminish the interactive forces. It is also found that a movable driver seat (pitch motion) could enhance the interactive forces. This design could allow the driver to assist the horse at critical times.
