The Effect of Ackerman Steering Correction Upon Front Tire Wear of Medium Duty Trucks 861975

This paper investigates the effect of Ackerman steering error upon the front tire wear rate and wear profile on medium duty trucks.
Three identical class 7 trucks with different Ackerman steer characteristics were driven over a simulated pick-up and delivery course. The front tire wear rate and wear profile were periodically monitored during the test.
Tire wear rates, wear profiles, and Ackerman error are compared.
