Durable Turbocharger Bearing Systems for High Temperature Applications 870299

The cooling of the bearing carrier of turbochargers for high temperature gasoline engine applications has greatly improved field durability. Water cooled designs are now available that reduce peak turbocharger bearing system metal temperatures after engine shut-down below the levels that promote deterioration of mineral-based lubricating oil. Field warranty data clearly supports the benefit gained in reducing these temperatures.
