Development of Radial Aircraft Tires 871870

The introduction of the radial tire to the field of aviation has been of high interest for many years. The prospect of lowering overall aircraft operating costs by reducing tire weight 20-307, increasing tread life and improving safety margins over current bias-ply tires was sufficient reason to continue efforts to achieve a radial aircraft tire. This paper will briefly discuss the results of these efforts, the advantages of radial over bias tires, and the current status of the Michelin AIR X radial aircraft tire.
