Developing ABS for Freightliner Vehicles 872271

Beginning this year, Freightliner Corporation introduced an anti-lock braking system - the Freightliner/WABCO ABS - as an option on its Class VIII vehicles. This paper presents the technical aspects of the engineering development and testing which preceded the release of this electromechanical system. It explains how this modified individual wheel control anti-lock braking system operates and describes the system's technical features and performance characteristics. Also discussed is the development and testing which proved the reliability and durability of this system.
