Compact Air Cooled Air Conditioning Condenser 880445

This paper provides a description of the recently developed and patented Modine PFtm brazed aluminum condenser. This condenser employs oval refrigerant tubes with unique refrigerant passages and serpentine air fins. When compared to a round-tube plate-fin and a serpentine condenser, the PFtm condenser is found to have higher heat transfer, lower air and refrigerant flow resistance, lower refrigerant charge requirements, reduced physical size, and lighter weight. This new type of condenser construction wil1 give automotive engineers added design flexibility for product improvement.
