Opel's Modular Assembly Techniques 885098

The modular technology is a method including everything from modular manufacturing techniques to the assembly of modular accessories.
New product and manufacturing concepts were developed to improve both the assembly quality and the quality of work-life. In 1984, Opel introduced a modular cockpit assembly concept in the Kadett, pre-assembling the cockpits at stationary workplaces to customer order.
In 1986, a second generation cockpit assembly concept followed in the Omega, featuring computer controlled and fully automatic loading, bonding and bolting of the cockpit. More advanced modular assembly studies show where there is further potential for future developments.
