Development Of Hypoid-Axles For World Wide Service In Heavy Trucks By MAN/EATON 885126

A report is given on the development of a range of hypoid axles. Testing in the vehicle covers driving on long-distance and mountain roads. In both cases load cycles were drawn up to describe the operating stresses. Tests are carried out on the test rigs in order to develop the axle gearing and to ensure the fatigue life of the axle housing. The report shows how, in a short time and in the context of a cooperation agreement, a product has evolved that both satisfies the requirements of the two cooperating partners and takes economic aspects into account.
