The Use of Adhesion Promoters to Insure Reliable Bonding of Polypropylene and Other Polyolefinic Materials. 890519

Some 20 billion pounds of polyolefin plastics were produced in 1987 in the U.S. Roughly 1/2 of this material is used in making molded or extruded parts and coatings. Traditional assembly methods included: heat welding techniques and mechanical fasteners. Durable adhesive bonding of those assemblies with an easy to use adhesive system can offer benefits in part complexity and cycle times, assembly equipment, joint strength and visual appearance.
This paper presents technical data for cyanoacrylate adhesive bonding of various substrates, and actual application information that exemplifies the scope and benefits of this new assembly alternative.
