Development of a Fully Electronic Dual Climate Zone HAVC System 890575
Modem Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems are designed to give precise control over the vehicle's interior environment with a minimum amount of effort. This environment may further be improved by allowing for humidity control and the creation of separate climate zones within the vehicle. In order to achieve these ends, techniques are developed for multi-point temperature sampling, Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) blower speed control, and multiplexed stepper motor control. These techniques coupled with the hardware to implement them detail a system which greatly improves ability to control the total vehicle's environment. While these benefits are usually achieved at the expense of increased complexity, innovations in HVAC technology have facilitated development of a dual zone climate control system that maximizes driver and passenger comfort without overtly increasing system complexity.
