Induction Swirl Ratio in D.I. Diesel Engine 891326

This study aims to investigate the optimum swirl ratio in a direct injection diesel engine. The method of optimizing the induction swirl ratio of theoretically examined and experiments with induction swirl ratio from 2.25 to 2.45 in a six cylinder naturally aspirated direct injection diesel engine are conducted. The induction swirl ratio is measured by steady-state flow test rig with a paddle wheel anemometer.
As a result of this investigation, the optimum induction swirl ratio can be determined by the calculation of the velocity of fuel spray jet. The results of theoretically calculated swirl ratio show good agreement with the experimental results reported herein.
